The Settings tab of a merit cycle holds everything that shapes it. This article covers the general settings and participants. Budgets, rules, approvals and worksheets have their own articles.
Who can do this: Administrators.
Where: Compensation β Merit Cycles β open a cycle β Settings.
General
Timeline: Start date, Submission deadline, Approval deadline and Effective date (when the new pay takes effect).
Instructions for managers: shown to managers on their worksheets.
Base currency: the currency budgets and totals are shown in. It defaults to your organisation currency.
Lock exchange rates on activation: keeps the exchange rates from the day you launch, so totals don't move during the cycle.
Unused budget: Return unused or Redistribute when the cycle closes.
Participants
Choose Include all active employees, or add filters under Match where. You can filter on organisation unit, country, direct manager, worksheet owner, tenure, employment type, performance rating, compa-ratio (%), current salary, last salary review (months ago), job level, job family, position and gender.
Other sections
Budgets: see Merit budgets and how they're shared out.
Rules & Strategies: see Merit guidelines and rules.
Approval Flow: see The approval flow.
Worksheet Configuration: see Assigning worksheets.
Good to know
Settings save automatically. You'll see Saving... and then All changes saved.
A cycle belongs to the view it was created in. If you use entities, a cycle created in an entity's view draws its participants from that entity and the entities below it.
Employees whose currency has no exchange rate are left out until a rate is available. Use Resync currencies on the cycle page to refresh.
