A component's Value shape describes how its amount is defined. It decides what Evenpay uses when it adds up pay and runs analysis.

Where: Settings β†’ Compensation β†’ Components & benefits, in the component editor under Behavior.

The six value shapes

Value shape

Use it for

How it enters analysis

Fixed amount

A set amount, such as base salary

The amount

Range with target

Variable pay with a minimum, maximum and target

The target

Percent of another component

A bonus set as a share of base salary

Always calculated from the Reference component and the percentage

Unit-based

Shift or on-call allowances, vouchers

Quantity Γ— Default value per unit

In-kind benefit

A car or phone benefit

Its Imputed monthly value, or 0 if none is set

Equity grant

Options, RSUs, shares, phantom shares or warrants

A monthly equivalent that you enter by hand

Benefits

Benefits can only use Fixed amount, Unit-based or In-kind benefit.

Why a component shows "Included"

An in-kind benefit with no imputed value has no money value. It shows as Included rather than as an amount, and contributes nothing to totals.
