The History tab on an employee's profile is a change log. It records what changed, the old and new values, when the change took effect and where it came from, so you can explain how someone's pay and role developed over time.
Who can do this: anyone who can see the employee. Pay rows need access to compensation.
Where: employee profile β History
What you see
Each row has Effective date, Field, From, To, Source, Reason, Changed by, Recorded and Change set. Group rows by Change set or Effective date, and filter by Category (Employment, Compensation, Other data), Source and date range.
Sources include Manual edit, Bulk edit, Import, Integration: (your HR system), Merit cycle, Offer, Formula, Copilot and Revert.
What is tracked
Status, position, organisation unit, manager, worksite, employment and contract type, working hours, start and end dates.
Each pay component and benefit. A change that only renames a component, without changing what it pays, isn't recorded.
Rationale tags, custom field values, skills and certificates.
Names, email and other encrypted personal details aren't tracked. Job level shows through the position.
Correct a history entry
Select one or more rows.
Choose Edit date or reason to fix the effective date or reason, or Delete to remove the entries.
You can never edit the values themselves. If a value is wrong, change it on the profile; that creates a new entry.
Good to know
Editing or deleting entries needs profile edit rights, and pay rows also need compensation edit rights.
History from an HR system starts on the day you connect it. To bring in earlier history, use the employment history import (see Importing employment history).
There's no export on the tab. To export history for everyone, see Exporting your data.
Deleting an employee also deletes their history.
