Building your own framework

Set up dimensions, weights, questions and the scoring method for a custom evaluation framework.

The framework builder lets you design your own job evaluation: what you measure, how much each part counts, and how the total is calculated.

Who can do this: Administrators.

Where: Settings β†’ Pay equity & transparency β†’ Evaluation frameworks β†’ Create, or Edit Framework on an existing one.

Steps

  1. Enter a Framework name.

  2. Add dimensions. Give each a Weight; weights are normalised to 100%. Optionally tag each dimension with a Canonical factor (Skills & Knowledge, Effort & Complexity, Responsibility, Working Conditions).

  3. Add questions to each dimension and choose a Question type:

    • Yes/No Question

    • Multiple Choice

    • Rating scale

    • Matrix

  4. Choose How is the total calculated? (see below).

  5. Set up grade bands. See Grade bands and score caps.

  6. Save, then activate the framework.

Scoring methods

Method

How it works

Weighted average

Each dimension is scored and weighted, giving a total from 0 to 100.

Sum of points

Answers carry points, and the total is the sum.

Points from matrix factors

Matrix factors build the score in steps (start, add, subtract), and a conversion table turns the result into points.

For weighted average frameworks, Show scores as lets you display Points or Scaled 0–100.

Job level settings

  • Job level calculation: Suggestion proposes a level the evaluator can change; Forced sets the level from the score in the evaluation wizard.

  • When the score's grade has no job level in the chosen career path: Use the closest job level or Suggest a new job level.

  • Wizard & level settings: Show career track selection and Allowed career paths.

Good to know

  • Skipped questions carry no weight in the total.

  • After you change a framework that's in use, recalculate position evaluations so scores stay current.

  • To add IF/THEN rules for levels, save the framework first. See Framework selection rules and evaluation rules.
