Scenarios: model changes and go live

Try out pay adjustments and settings in a draft scenario, compare scenarios and activate the one you choose.

A scenario is a version of your pay equity analysis with its own settings and changes. Use draft scenarios to test what-ifs, such as raising certain salaries or changing how groups are formed, without touching real data. When you are happy, activate the scenario to make it live.

Who can do this: Administrators

Where: Pay Equity β†’ Overview, scenario tabs at the top

Create a scenario

  1. Select New scenario.

  2. In Configure new analysis scenario, choose the Compensation components, Pay factors and Filters. Anything inactive becomes part of the unexplained gap.

  3. Optionally choose Ignore existing pay rationales to start from a clean slate.

  4. Save. The scenario starts as a draft and doesn't trigger alerts.

Make changes

Open Setup. Its tabs are Compensation, Employees, Adjust, Rules and Alerts.

  • Adjust: edit an employee's pay or attributes (position, level, org unit, custom fields), then Apply & recalculate. Only changed shows the rows you edited.

  • Rules: the rule builder applies one change to everyone matching a filter, such as raising underpaid employees to the group median. Select Start from template for common rules.

  • Alerts: a different work of equal value grouping or thresholds for this scenario only.

Then select Run analysis to see the results.

Compare scenarios

Select Compare scenarios to view several side by side, add rows and a recommendation, and Export PDF.

Activate

  1. Select Activate. You must run the analysis first.

  2. Review After activation: alerts added, updated, closed or kept, adjustment tasks and rationale tags.

  3. If another scenario is live, choose Replace or Keep both active.

  4. Check the Advanced options, such as creating pay equity tasks, applying rationale tags, or applying this scenario's components to organisation defaults.

  5. Confirm.

Good to know

  • Scenario changes never change employee records. Pay changes and attribute changes become pay equity tasks for someone to carry out, for example in your HR system. See The Pay Equity Plan and pay equity tasks.

  • A live scenario is read-only. To change it, create a new scenario.

  • Use Rename, Duplicate, Pin and Delete to manage your scenario tabs.

  • With entities, each entity's scenarios belong to it and are activated from its own view.
