Job families group related positions. Organisation units describe where people sit in your company, and they decide what managers can see.

Who can do this: Administrators.

Job families

Where: Positions β†’ Families.

  1. Select New Job Family, or Set Up Job Families to start from defaults.

  2. In Create Job Family, enter a Name, an optional Description and a Color.

  3. To nest it, choose a Parent Family. Choose No Parent (Root) for a top-level family.

  4. Save. To add a family under an existing one, use Add sub-family on that family; the dialog is then titled Create Sub-Family.

Families can be nested as deeply as you need. If you reuse a name, Evenpay numbers the new family automatically. You can archive, restore and delete families in bulk.

Organisation units

Where: Positions β†’ Org Units.

  1. Select New Unit, or Set Up Organization Units.

  2. Enter a Name and choose a Parent Unit, or None (root level).

  3. Open the unit to add managers with Add Manager, and mark the Head of the unit.

The tree shows each unit's Sub-units and employee counts, with or without sub-units.

How units decide what managers see

A manager sees the employees in the units they manage, including all units below them, plus their direct reports. Keep unit managers up to date so managers see the right people. See Roles: what Administrators, Managers and Employees see.

Good to know

  • A position can belong to several org units.

  • Org units can also be created by a CSV import.
